El projecte RESCUE, de què la UB és sòcia, pretén millorar l’accés de les persones refugiades a les universitats de l’Orient Mitjà i el Nord d’Àfrica.
Una delegació de la Universitat de Barcelona ha assistit, aquesta setmana, a la inauguració de les oficines de suport a estudiants refugiats que s’han creat en dues universitats del Líban – concretament, a la Lebanese University i a la Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK) – en el marc del projecte europeu RESCUE.
El projecte RESCUE, de què la UB és sòcia, pretén millorar l’accés de les persones desplaçades i refugiades a les universitats de l’Orient Mitjà i el Nord d’Àfrica mitjançant la creació i gestió de les Refugee Student Operational Support Units (R-SOS units).
Les R-SOS units són oficines de suport ad hoc que proporcionen serveis d’atenció, informació, assessorament, orientació… a estudiants refugiats, desplaçats interns i també locals que volen incorporar-se o reprendre els seus estudis a les universitats sòcies del projecte, tant al Líban com també a Jordània i al Kurdistan iraquià.
Abans de la inauguració de les R-SOS units, s’ha celebrat a la Lebanese University la 2a Conferència de Divulgació del projecte RESCUE, en què han participat membres de diverses organitzacions europees i internacionals, com el coordinador de l’oficina Erasmus + del Líban, Aref Al-Soufi, o l’oficial associada d’educació a l’UNHCR del Líban, Agatha Abi-Aad.
Inaugurated in Lebanon the support offices for refugee students in the framework of the RESCUE project
The RESCUE project, of which the UB is a partner, aims to improve the access of refugees to universities in the Middle East and North Africa.
A delegation from the University of Barcelona has attended, this week, the opening of support offices for refugee students that have been created in two Lebanese universities – specifically, the Lebanese University and the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK) – within the framework of the European project RESCUE.
The RESCUE project, of which the UB is a partner, aims to improve the access of displaced people and refugees to universities in the Middle East and North Africa through the creation and management of the Refugee Student Operational Support Units (R-SOS units).
The R-SOS units are ad hoc support offices that provide care, information, counseling and guidance services to refugee students, internally displaced people and also local people who want to join or resume their studies at the partner universities of the project, both in Lebanon as well as in Jordan and Iraq (Kurdistan).
Prior to the opening of the R-SOS units, the Lebanese University has hosted the 2nd Dissemination Conference of the RESCUE project, with the participation of members of various European and international organizations, such as the Coordinator for the National Erasmus+ Office in Lebanon, Aref Al-Soufi, and the Lebanon’s UNHCR Associate Education Officer, Agatha Abi-Aad.
