They are aimed at non-EU students who are threatened and/or displaced in their countries of origin or refugees in countries of first reception or transit.
The University of Barcelona opens the 2021-2022 call for grants for the Transition course to university studies, and the subsequent completion of master’s degree or the final two years of a degree, in the framework of the UB’s Support programme for refugees and people from conflict areas, managed by the UB Solidarity Foundation.
From the point of view of providing comprehensive support for studies and accommodation, the initiative aims to promote the incorporation into the final two years of a degree or into a master’s degree at the UB of refugee university students or those in situations similar to those of the refugee, in the terms defined by the UNHCR.
Specifically, the proposal is aimed at non-EU students who are threatened and/or displaced in their countries of origin or refugees in countries of first reception or transit, and is part of what UNHCR defines as complementary and safe ways to resettle refugees in third countries
Both in the previous three editions and in this one, it is an initiative co-financed by the University of Barcelona, the UB Solidarity Foundation and the Directorate of Global Justice Services and International Cooperation of the Barcelona City Council.
On this occasion, a total of 16 grants are announced, which will cover tuition and accommodation, a monthly grant, private health insurance, and psycho-emotional, psychological and legal assistance and support.
