Report “UB Refugee: a program that changes lives” (4′)
Three people who are or have been part of the UB Refugee program’s University Transition Course share their personal and academic situation as well as their opinion about the program in this report from the University of Barcelona.
Documentary short film “University refuge” (20′)
Documentary short film directed by Pau Faus and produced by Nanouk Films, with the support of the Barcelona City Council and the collaboration of the University of Barcelona (UB).
It documents the actions undertaken by the UB and the Barcelona City Council to facilitate access to higher education for refugees. Specifically, the film focuses on the experience of Shahd, a student who, after fleeing Syria, was able to continue her life and education in Barcelona thanks to the UB Refugee Support Program. As Shahd speaks about the war, how she has rebuilt her life in Barcelona, and her future, we accompany her in the preparations for the next concert by Orpheus XXI, a musical ensemble founded by Jordi Savall and composed of refugee and immigrant musicians.
Subtitles are available in Catalan, Spanish or English.
Awareness campaigns
To mark World Refugee Day, the UB Solidarity Foundation has been publishing the annual #UBRefugi awareness campaign since 2020. This campaign is based on the testimonies of students participating in the University of Barcelona’s Support Program for Refugees and People from Conflict Zones. Also in 2020, coinciding with the International Day of Peace, the #UBPeaceRefugeDignity awareness campaign was launched, featuring definitions of “peace” contributed by students in the program.
